Attendance

We arranged two Happy Hour Drinks on 13 November 2008 and 12 May 2009, which were warmly welcomed by our members. There were 57 and 67 participants respectively.

Education

We arranged two educational seminars during the period. The first was co-organized with Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANIIF) on 19 September 2008. The topic was “Trends and Developments in International Insurance Law and Regulation”. It was delivered by Mr. Gordon Taylor, an expert from Australia. The seminar attracted 76 participants including various levels of insurance practitioners and lawyers who got updated knowledge from the topic with CPD accreditation. This event was also breakthrough cooperation between CUC and ANZIIF.
The second seminar was held on 27 September 2008. The topic was “Overview on CJR 181: Practical Issues”. The speakers - Ms. Eliza Chang and Mr. Jeffery Chan, from Cheng, Yeung and Co. were invited to present the topic. 88 fellow practitioners had joined this seminar.

Sports

We organized two golf tournaments, at Palm Island Resort Green Bay Golf Club, on 9 January 2009 and 17 April 2009. There were 35 and 39 golfers joining the respective tournament. The tournaments were sponsored by Zurich Insurance Group and Henry H.C. Wong & Company respectively.
We were also sponsored by Accette Insurance Brokers (H.K.) Ltd. to organize a Bowling Tournament on 1 June 2009. There were 36 participants joined.

Social

The Chinese Underwriters Club Annual Ball 2009 was held at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre at 19 December 2009. Despite the impact of the financial tsunami, our members were very support to this year’s annual ball, totally 144 members and guests enjoyed a wonderful “Christmas Fantasy”. The Hon. K.P. Chan also attended as one of our honorable guests. The party was full of joy and hope.
